Day 22 - Hiroshima - July 16
Hiroshima Castle
This castle is just a facade with a museum inside similar to Osaka Castle. The original one was destroyed by the bombing. It had a nice collection of Katana’s and Samurai armor and a great view of the city at the top.
Shukkeien Garden
It was very serene and peaceful. My photos don’t do it justice. Many people used it as refuge after the bomb. But there was no help to offer so they are now buried there now.
You can feed the koi and turtles. They will swim up to you and follow you along the water paths looking for hand outs.
Shopping
What did the girls do while I was out on my own? Shopping.
Okonomiyaki For Dinner
Went to Fuku-chan restaurant for some Hiroshima Okonomiyaki which is a local classic. It has suba noodles, egg, cabbage and whatever else you want to throw in. I added prawn tempura and scallops. They grill it in front of you.
