Day 27 - Drive to Hakone - July 21

Truck Stops

Today we left Kyoto and drove to Hakone and stopped off at a few truck stops along they way.

You need coupons from a machine to get your meal at truck stops. And you can buy them with seemingly anything including cash. Just not Mastercard or Visa. Ugh!

These were some of our favorite meals and also the least expensive. However, you need are car to get there, and to pay the expressway tolls.

During the drive to Hakone we stopped off at Obuchi Sasaba for a beautiful view of Mount Fuji amongst the tea plantations!

Just kidding this is what we actually saw. The weather didn’t want to agree with us again and Fuji was in the clouds. Our Japan trip is almost over and Tammy has yet to see it. My brother has a similar story from his visit. 

Our Hakone House

This was by far the biggest place we stayed. 2 floors and 2 washrooms. It was pretty rural as far as Japan goes so that was the only way we could afford the extra space.
