Day 29 - Japan Last Day - July 23
It is a sad day. It is the last day with our loyal friend Tortoro (our car), but more importantly our last day together for a while. Ava & I will continue traveling while the others will go back home for some much needed R&R. I haven’t been away from my wife for much longer than a weekend since we met decades ago and a similar story for the kids since they were born. It will be a bit of an adjustment. The kids even claim that I had a tear in my eye. I will make sure to give them all spankings when I get home. But Thankfully with technology they are just a video call away.
It is still hard to accept it all over. I’ve been planning it for months, making accommodations, and researching where to go. The month just flew by. This is the first time the kids have been so sad to leave a country. They are already homesick for Japan and haven’t even left yet. The next part of my trip is very different. Other than a few flights I haven’t booked anything. I still don’t even have a ticket home…
The Day
On the ride Tammy got to see Mount Fuji for the first (and last) time. The clouds cleared just enough. And a few minutes later, it was gone again. Such an elusive beast. But at least it showed up just long enough to say goodbye.
