Questrade - The Dawn of Investing

It covered a lot of ground. Even if you just dive into a couple of the bullet points it's a lot to digest. However a lot of things still haven't been released to the masses yet so it remains to be seen how all the pieces will actually deliver. But regardless, it continues to be interesting times for Canadian investors from basic to advanced.

Highlights from 2025 already available:

• Fractional Shares - in real time, don't need to wait till EOD.
• No Commission Trades - Some serious competition to Wealthsimple
• Drip - It was there before but recent updates make this trivial to setup
• Norbert's Gambit / Trade Journaling - Right from the web app. Get the Market rate for USD/CAD exchanges.
• Overnight Trading - Very recent. Plan is to go 24 hours.

What is Coming:

• Schedule 1 Bank License
• This one has been a long time coming as they first applied in 2019. They haven't announced any real details on how this will roll out but it promises to provide one stop shopping for both your daily banking and investing. The closest competition would be Wealthsimple although they don't have a schedule 1 license nor have they applied from what I read. They offer similar services like checking accounts, through partner banks.

This all looks amazing but I will approach this with cautious optimism. I have accounts with Questrade and from my experience there are still core features they really need to improve and their support has had more people grumpy than just me.
